The purpose of this article is to cover how many characters an SMS can have. The character limit for a single SMS message is 166 characters. Consider that if emojis are used in your messages, this is shorted to a maximum of 66 characters. If extra characters are added, this will be counted as an additional SMS, having said this, the message will be sent as one.
Solution
1. In the following automated message, you’ll see that the total characters are 98, therefore this is considered as one message (please note below the text box: 98/1)
2. In the following example, there are 327 characters, therefore 5 text messages are considered (note below the text box, it is mentioned 327/5)
3. So, what happens if we add an emoji? as mentioned previously, the limit will be reduced to 66 characters, let us show you an example in the following image:
4. Until the last image, it was considered as 1 message (66/1), but if we add more text, then a second SMS will be considered, as shown in the image below (77/2)
